Both R&C and PNRB considered Certisnassa a possible or probable conflation.

The Cree is recorded as Crethe 1301, Creth 1363, Cre 1375. Johnston has this as G. crioch, criche, 'the boundary between E. and W. Galloway. Not mentioned by Mills in ODBPN.
