There is no doubt that this site is on the river Tamar.
The most popular placement is Launceston (SX3384), just west of the crossing of the Tamar by Margary 492b. There are no known indications or remains of a Roman presence at Launceston, but perhaps under Launceston Castle (SX331847).
Otherwise, a site must be sought elsewhere on the Tamar. Curvoda (SX3478), a suspected Roman fortlet, is on a tributary of the Tamar (Lowley Brook). North Tamerton (SX2997), well north of Launceston, was a Roman industrial site. Neither is on a known Roman road.
