Olikana Olicana, var. Olokana Olocana (Ptolemy II 3 10) a polis of the Brigantes

    Burwen Castle is on Earby Beck, earlier Thornton Beck, where it is joined by Elslack Beck. The early forms of Elslack Eleslac DB, Elslack 1291 do not suggest a connection with the name Olenaco. PNRB's assignment is based almost entirely on a geographical flow to the order of the ND; Elslack would follow Bremetennaco Ribchester and precede Uirosido Brough by Bainbridge on Margary's M72.

The entry in the Notitia Dignitatum: Praefectus alae primae Herculeae, Olenaco var. Elenaco (ND xl₅₅) is justifiably considered by many to be the same as Olicana.
