The Roman Map of Britain Eburocaslum? Pennymuir?
Eburocaslum var. Eburocaslim (R&C 184) next
Eburocaslum should be connected to either Trimontium (R&C 183) Newstead, or Bremenium High Rochester (R&C 185), or both. The possible candidate forts are then limited to Oxton or Cappuck connected to Trimontium and Blakehope connected to Bremenium. Risingham is epigraphically attested as Habitancum, Low Learchild is Alauna (R&C 187), and Cocuvada (R&C 186) is Chew Green (or Chester Hill).
Oxton, Borders (NT4954) fortlet on Dere Street at Headshaw Burn; nearby hillforts Carfrae NT497546, Hillhouse NT504553.
Cappuck, Borders (NT6921) fortlet on Dere Street at Oxnam Water.
Blakehope, Northumberland (NY8594) fort on Dere Street where Durtrees Burn joins the River Rede.
Chew Green (NT7808) is listed and follows the entry for Bremenium High Rochester.
Other possiblities: Eburocaslum as an error for Habitancum is remotely possible. The Kale Water Kalne, Aqua de Calne 1165-1214 crosses Dere Street between the marching camps at Pennymuir (NT7513) and the siege-works at the hill-fort Woden Law (NT7612). Eburocallon(is)? Is Eburocaslum a conflation of two place-names, Eburaco and Callonis?
*Eburo- 'yew' or a personal name. Schnetz emended -caslum to -castellum, and thought it represented an original Eburodunum. If this is so, there is little likelihood of a positive placement.
