The Roman Map of Britain Coccio (vicinity of Edgeworth - Ainsworth?, Lancashire)
Coccio (AI 4821 Iter x)
There is a reasonable inclination to place Coccio in Ainsworth township near Cockey Moor SD 771 102. If this is correct, and Coccio is based on a river name, then Bradshaw Brook is likely the source of the name.
Lancashire
Gazetteer, Joseph Aston 1808
Cockey Moor, a pleasant piece of waste, about 3 miles E. of Bolton, surrounded
by many houses and a considerable population. Here is a chapel belonging the
established church, and a dissenting chapel, attended by a respectable
congregation of the Presbyterian persuasion. The Episcopal chapel at Cockey
Moor, is in the parish of Middleton; to which place it is a chapel of ease:
patron, the rector of Middleton.

"...leads to the conclusion that a site in Standish, 4.5 km north-west of
Wigan, is the most convincing location."
