The Roman Map of Britain Anicetis Kingston Deverill? Wiltshire

Anicetis (R&C 35) next

Anicetis would be expected to be:
   (1) on a road from Old Sarum (which is already partnered), or
   (2) on the same road as Meletio.

(3) in the vicinity of, and perhaps, on a road to Bath.

RIB148 records a Q. Pompeius Anicetus who dedicated an altar to Sulis at Bath. This similarity to a personal name may indicate that Anicetis was an estate or a villa..

KINGSTON DEVERILL, WEST WILTSHIRE ST8436 Roman settlement
Kingston Deverill is at the junction of Margary 45b (west from Old Sarum) and Margary 46 (south to Fontmel Magna and north to Bath). This does not prove that Kingston Deverill is the site of Anicetis - just a particularly attractive candidate.
