The Roman Map of Britain a note on the transposition of two lines in the Ravenna Cosmography   NEXT

Earlier in the copying process two lines of text were transposed. The length of the line is comparable to that of the lacuna in the Paris manuscript's river section (R&C 251-256) where a scribe skipped from Doruantium to Antrum. Antrum looks very similar to Antium, the last six letters of Doruantium

Rauonia Bresnetenaci Veteranorum Pampocalia (R&C 123-125)
Lagentium Valteris Bereda Lagubalumi Magnis
(R&C 126-130)

Anaua Bdora Nouitia Adron Certisnassa Intraum (R&C 251-256) river section

Restoring these two lines to their proper position offers the accustomed continuity of the Cosmographer's method. Otherwise Rauonia (Bravoniaco) would be south-west of Papcastle, or in the south-west quarter on a road to Ribchester. Following Magnis (R&C 130), Rauonia (Bravoniaco) has no connection problems, as it is directly linked by the Roman road Margary 84.

With this in mind, on to Lagentium (R&C 126).
