To
me Silchester's placement looked like a repair, that is, its position between
Quadrants 5 and 6 on the list and its physical location in Quadrant 3's
northwest quarter fit my definition of an amendment - as a site missed during
the cosmographer's inventory. But it occurs that the map's position for Calleva
might have been somewhat distorted, showing it farther north than it really is
in respect to a northern limit for Quadrant 3 defined by London, Staines, and
Mildenhall (latitudes: 51.515, 51.432, and 51.424142N respectively;
Calleva 51.357N)).
Given the possibility that two lines of text have been
transposed, as found later in the manuscript, an emendation would neaten up
things nicely. If Calleva
(R&C 67) were followed by
R&C 75 through R&C 78:
