Brocolitia strongly resembles the stream name Brockhole common to the region. Presumably the eponymous stream is that which meets the South Tyne at Newbrough,  Maggie's Dean Burn. Other place-names that may be related are Brockhall, Brockholes, Brocklesby and Brockley, though Ekwall derives them differently.
